Product Care Guide

Cleaning Your Basket
For Bagtastic Basket Co. Handwoven Ghanaian Baskets
Our baskets are handmade in Ghana using natural grass like veta vera or elephant grass, often dyed with vibrant, plant-based colors. Each piece is crafted with intention and care, meant to be both functional and beautiful. With the right maintenance, your basket can last for many years.
To clean your basket:
-
Gently scrub any marks with a soft-bristled brush, a little warm water, and mild soap.
-
Avoid soaking. Spot-clean only when possible.
-
Allow the basket to dry fully in a well-ventilated space — not in direct sunlight.
Reshaping Your Ghanaian Bolga Basket
Baskets may shift in shape during shipping or storage. Here’s how to restore them:
-
Wet the basket thoroughly with cold water using a hose, faucet, or spray bottle.
(Cold water helps preserve the dye and prevents bleeding.) -
Let the basket sit for a few minutes to allow the natural fibers to soften.
-
Gently press and mold it back to its desired shape.
-
Shake off excess water by the handle.
-
Place the basket in a warm, airy space to dry away from direct sunlight or any surfaces that could be stained by natural dye.
Pro Tip: Protect surfaces with cardboard or a towel while drying.
Preventing Color Fading
While our vibrant dyes are long-lasting, exposure to moisture and direct sunlight can lead to natural fading over time.To keep your basket looking its best:Avoid leaving it in humid areas, bathrooms, or outdoors where moisture is trapped.Do not expose it to prolonged direct sunlight, especially through windows or in cars.If storing, keep your basket in a cool, dry place out of direct light.
Keeping it Heirloom-Worthy
With gentle care, your Bagtastic Basket will age gracefully. With time and use, your basket may develop a warm, lived-in look that reflects its natural origins and your everyday touch.
